Grants
SPPF grants recognize academic achievement and hands-on industry experience. From the B.S. Paper Engineering Grant to internship and minor completion grants, these awards help students graduate debt-free and career-ready.
B.S. Paper Engineering Grant
$21,000
Graduate debt-free and career-ready. Students who complete their Bachelor of Science degree in Paper Engineering with a GPA of 2.5 or higher receive a $21,000 grant—paid directly to them, tax-free, following graduation.
This grant is part of our commitment to ensuring that every graduate enters the workforce with confidence, ready to make an impact from day one.

Paper Engineering Minor Grant or MPS Degree

Students in any major at SUNY ESF who complete the Paper Science Minor are eligible for a $7,500 grant. Whether you’re exploring the industry or deepening your expertise, this grant supports your journey.

Management Minor Grant
$5,000
Paper Engineering majors who complete the Management Minor gain valuable business skills and receive $5,000 to recognize their commitment to becoming well-rounded leaders in the industry.

Paper Industry Internship Grant
$2,000
Real-world experience is invaluable. Students from any major who complete an internship or co-op with a company in the paper or allied industries receive a $2,000 grant. This grant can be awarded up to two times, encouraging students to gain diverse industry experience.

FE Exam Sponsorship

Preparing for your professional engineering career starts with the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam. SPPF covers the full cost of the exam for students enrolled in the B.S. Paper Engineering program.
Sponsored Scholarships
These scholarships celebrate leadership, academic excellence, and commitment to the field. Awarded each semester to qualifying students, they provide meaningful financial support without requiring a separate application.
The Grossman Family Foundation Scholarship
$5,000 (varies)
Awarded to a sophomore, junior, or senior with financial need who has demonstrated leadership skills and maintains at least a 3.0 GPA.
The George A. Oechsle Scholarship
$4,500 (varies)
Awarded to a sophomore, junior, or senior with financial need who has shown leadership—preferably through participation in TAPPI or PIMA—and maintains at least a 3.0 GPA.
The Stuart & Cecile Alexander Graduate Fellowship
$2,000 (varies)
Awarded to a graduate student in the Paper Engineering program with financial need. U.S. citizenship required.
Kamala-Devi Recycled Containerboard Scholarship
$4,500 (varies)
Awarded to a senior or graduate student interested in a career in the recycled containerboard sector, demonstrated through industry work or project experience.

Awarded to a graduate student in the Paper Engineering program with financial need. U.S. citizenship required.
The Paper Engineering Referral Award

Know someone who would thrive in the Paper Engineering program? Current Paper Engineering students can refer incoming freshmen, transfer students, or current ESF students switching their major, and receive $500 once their referral begins the program.
